Even though I use it in my productive environment. I strongly recommend that you only use it under controlled conditions and for testing and debugging. From the HISTORY file: - Fixed scaling subtitles in case the primary device's GetVideoSize() function doesn't return actual values (thanks to Luca Olivetti). - The DiSEqC codes are now copied in the call to cDiseqc::Execute(). - VDR now supports "Satellite Channel Routing" (SCR) according to EN50494 (based on the "unicable" patch from Lars Hanisch). Since "Unicable" is a registered trademark and stands for only one of many implementations of SCR, the following changes have been made compared to the patch, which need to be taken into account by people who have set up their system using the patch: - The 'U' parameter in the diseqc.conf file has been changed to 'S' ("Scr"). - The configuration file name has been changed from "unicable.conf" to "scr.conf". - Updated sources.conf (thanks to Arthur Konovalov). - The SVDRP command LSTC now also accepts channel IDs (thanks to Dominic Evans). - Fixed handling DVB subtitles and implemented decoding textual DVB subtitles (thanks to Rolf Ahrenberg). - Added cap_net_raw to the capabilities that are not dropped (thanks to Dominic Evans). - Fixed setting the start time of an edited recording (thanks to Christoph Haubrich). - Temporarily switching free devices to transponders in order to have their running status updated is now done by marking the devices as "occupied" for a certain amount of time. - The new setup options "LNB/Device n connected to sat cable" can be used to define which DVB-S devices are connected to the same sat cable and are therefore "bonded". This obsoletes the LNBSHARE patch. implements a complete digital Set-Top Box and Video Recorder.
|
|
It can work with signals received from satellites (DVB-S) as
|
|
well as cable (DVB-C) and terrestrial (DVB-T) signals.
|
|
|
|
At least one DVB card is required to run \fBvdr\fR. With it you can watch
|
|
live TV while recording one or more other broadcasts from the same transponder.
|
|
It is also possible to start watching a recorded programme before the live
|
|
broadcast has ended (\fBtime shifting\fR). In order to record from different
|
|
transponders simultaneously two or more DVB cards are necessary.
|
|
By default \fBvdr\fR can support up to four
|
|
DVB cards. The primary DVB card (the one your TV set is connected to) has
|
|
to be a "full featured" card, which means it must contain an MPEG decoder
|
|
and provide audio and video signal outputs.
|
|
|
|
\fBvdr\fR uses the On Screen Display of the DVB card to display its menus.
|
|
It can be controlled by the PC keyboard, a home built "Remote Control Unit"
|
|
(RCU) or the "Linux Infrared Remote Control" (LIRC).
|
|
|
|
Remote access is possible via the "Simple Video Disk Recorder Protocol" (SVDRP),
|
|
which can be accessed on port 6419, for instance by \fBtelnet\fR.
|
|

Send Dolby Digital audio to stdin of command \fIcmd\fR.

Limit video files to \fIsize\fR bytes (default is 2000M).

This option is only useful in conjunction with --edit, and must precede that
|
|
option to have an effect.

\fIsize\fR is an integer number and may be followed by one of the letters K, M, G or T
|
|
to abbreviate Kilo-, Mega-, Giga- or Terabyte, respectively.
|
|
The given value is silently limited to the program's internal minimum and
|
|
maximum values.
|

.BI \-\-genindex= rec
|
|
Generate the index file for the given recording.
|
|
\fIrec\fR must be the full path name of an existing recording.
|
|
The recording must be in TS format.
|
|
If the recording already has an index file, it will be deleted
|
|
before creating the new one.

The program will return immediately after generating the index.
|
|
Note that using this option while another instance of VDR is
|
|
currently replaying the given recording, or if the recording
|
|
has not been finished yet, may lead to unexpected results.

|
|
Write images from the SVDRP command GRAB into the
|
|
given directory \fIdir\fR. \fIdir\fR must be the full path name of an
|
|
existing directory, without any "..", double '/'
|

or symlinks. By default, or if \fB\-g\-\fR is given,
|
|
grabbing images to disk is disabled.
|

|
|
Print a help message and exit.

|
|
Use \fIinstance\fR as the id of this VDR instance (default is 0).

In an environment where several instances of VDR use the same video
|
|
directory, this parameter can be set to a positive integer value
|
|
that's unique for each instance, so that they won't interfere with
|
|
each other in case they record exactly the same broadcast.
|
|
The number given here will be part of the directory name in which
|
|
the recordings will be stored.
|

|
|
Set logging to \fIlevel\fR.
|
|
\fB0\fR\ =\ no logging, \fB1\fR\ =\ errors only,
|
|
\fB2\fR\ =\ errors and info, \fB3\fR\ =\ errors, info and debug.

The default logging level is \fB3\fR.
|
|
If logging should be done to LOG_LOCAL\fIn\fR instead of
|
|
LOG_USER, add '.n' to LEVEL, as in 3.7 (n=0..7).

|

Search for plugins in directory \fIdir\fR (default is ./PLUGINS/lib).
